Tellington TTouch Animal Companion Training or TTACT was created in 1995 with the first certification program for practitioners who wanted to focus on TTouch for our small companion animal friends. Using the same concepts and techniques used for horses, the TTouch method was modified for the smaller animals.
The circular TTouches plus lifts and strokes are the foundation for the body work that can be applied to dogs, cats, birds, reptiles or any of the exotic animals that have become companions in our homes. In addition, there are educational tools such as the "canine halter", "body wraps" and the TTouch "wand" to help animals become calmer, more aware and connected with us. With the intent of helping them be more confident, cooperative and able to make better choices, the tools are used in conjunction with exercises and obstacles that make the educational process fun.
TTouch for the companion animals offers you a method of educating your animals in a unique way that incorporates the entire body, not just the "brain". Science is now clear that memory is not just located in the organ called the brain, rather every cell in the body holds information and "memory". This is how cells all over the body can create new cells that look exactly like the cells they have replaced or why the body holds fear in the area of an injury that has long since healed. Fear and pain (or the memory of pain) are the two greatest inhibitors to learning.
TTouch uses this knowledge and begins with addressing and removing fear or trauma through touch. This leaves the animal in a more trusting, balanced and confident posture for taking in new information and changing behavior. From a place of confidence and awareness all other schooling becomes more effective.

TTouch can be used exclusively or in conjunction with any other training methods. Plus there are a variety of ways to learn TTouch that will work best for you animal's needs and your schedule. Take a look at our Services page to find a program best suited for you.
